Maja Uzelac (Belgrade, 1985) earned an MSc in Marketing Management at ESADE, which she considers her first step towards becoming a global citizen. During her year in Barcelona, Maja worked for Mango. On completion of her studies, she relocated to Dublin after being recruited by Google, where she built her career as an Online Media Strategist and Strategic Partnerships Manager.
After six years in Ireland, Maja returned to Belgrade as Chief Marketing Digital Officer of L’Oreal for the Adriatic and Balkans. She currently lives in Belgrade with her husband and her young daughter, who Maja describes as her source of daily motivation and her main reason for returning to Serbia. When not travelling for work meetings, Maja likes to enjoy her free time with family and friends.

Barcelona always in her heart
For Maja, living in Barcelona for a year was a transformative experience both personally and professionally, thanks to the city’s international spirit as well as its local culture. Maja cherishes fond memories of her time in Barcelona and the good friends she made there.
Family: her motivating force
After a lengthy long-distance relationship – and with their daughter’s arrival just around the corner – Maja and her husband Milan decided to move to Belgrade. Every day before leaving for work, Maja and Milan spend time playing with their little girl, who has become the centre of their world.
Being a woman in a leadership position isn’t easy. Maja feels that she still has a long way to go in this regard. The support of her family and company has played a vital role in enabling Maja to balance her role as Chief Digital Marketing Officer with motherhood.
